Lauren Machen (RYT-200) has been practicing yoga since 2012, after discovering that the physical and mental practice helped to relieve the daily stresses of a media job through her fellow coworkers and friends. She continued to practice weekly at various studios as a means to calm the mind while also strengthening the body. Prior to Lauren’s introduction to yoga, she grew up extremely active, playing volleyball, softball and basketball, and even captained her varsity high school teams, while also participating in competitive dancing and various action sports. Additionally, Lauren loves to experience the outdoors at any opportunity, finding solace in various activities including snowboarding, surfing, hiking, motocross riding, camping, stand-up paddle boarding and more.
Lauren has been a resident of the Burlington area since 2013, hailing from the sunny state of California, where she grew up and went to college. After receiving a degree in Physical Education and Kinesiology, Lauren continues to remain active both during her free time and at work. She is always up for new challenges and has a track record of staying on top of her fitness, becoming a licensed BarSculpt instructor, personal trainer, and even volunteering her free time teaching yoga to her coworkers at the office during lunch hours.
While continuing to stand by her passions of playing various sports and exploring the outdoors, practicing yoga continues to lead Lauren to an entirely new physical and mental experience. Since studying at Burlington Yoga under Piper Abbott, Lauren has developed a higher understanding of how the mind and body are truly connected, and has further discovered the benefits of each asana practice through more than just the physical. She credits Piper and the instructors at BY for their dedication and heart to yoga and strives to also maintain the same quality both during her personal practice and also while teaching.
