REGISTRATION IS NOW FULL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST. WE WILL BE OFFERING THIS WORKSHOP AGAIN LATER IN THE SUMMER.
PLEASE EMAIL US IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE NOTIFIED OF WHEN IT WILL BE HELD AGAIN.
Sunday, July 9 - 12:30 to 2:30 pm
This two-hour workshop is designed to help you change your relationship to your anxiety. You will be guided through gentle flow yoga, breathing exercises and restorative postures aimed at calming the nervous system, increasing body awareness and grounding the body. The workshop will utilize asana, pranayama, meditation and restorative postures to aid in shifting anxiety.
The practice will end with therapeutic restorative yoga. Restorative postures facilitate the relaxation response which helps enlist the body’s natural healing process. This workshop aims to bring a sense of self support and a confidence in the body’s ability to heal itself. Studies have shown that yoga can reduce both situational and chronic anxiety. Through practicing yoga, participants can experience anxiety as a passing state rather than a permanent state of consciousness.
This workshop will be led by Emily Miller, a licensed psychotherapist who has been trained in therapeutic restorative yoga, Hatha yoga, and has been a practicing psychotherapist for twenty years. Emily is also a meditation practitioner and meditation instructor in the Shambhala tradition.
