Rachel’s passion for yoga began in 2013 when she was exploring ways to relieve daily stress and anxiety. Having been an avid runner, and endurance athlete, it was time for a lower impact interest. She was initially doubtful that yoga could provide the same level of fitness. However, once she started attending Burlington Yoga she discovered a much deeper challenge that sparked a desire to learn more. She found that proper alignment requires more thought and physical stamina than she had assumed possible. She was hooked.
She attended the 200 Hour Burlington Yoga Teacher Training in 2015 under the instruction of Piper (Candra Prabha) and has furthered her knowledge and understanding through a 50 hr advanced vinyasa teacher training with Jaina Portwood. She continues to explore workshops around the country and enjoys the endless journey of being a student.
Her practice is methodical, intentional and accessible to all levels. She provides guidance on the foundation of each posture through proper alignment and engagement. Her focus is to ensure she creates an inclusive environment for each practitioner to feel comfortable while advancing their practice.
While Rachel values the physical challenge of yoga, the mental aspects have changed her life. It’s created a deeper self-awareness and a level of equanimity that was not present beforehand. She hopes to inspire others to explore the resistance to stillness and discomfort by bringing awareness to breath and gently calming the senses.
