This two-hour workshop is designed to help you change your relationship to anxiety. We will explore practices and techniques that can be used in daily life to help shift your relationship to anxiety and the negative emotional states that can lead to feelings of unrest, disease and being overwhelmed. As we learn to observe our sensations with increased awareness, we can facilitate a shift at the onset of these feelings.
Yoga is a form of mind-body healing that integrates the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of an individual to improve health, well-being and stress related illnesses.
Evidence shows that stress contributes to the etiology of many chronic conditions and diseases. Stress management has become a priority in reducing the negative emotional states that can lead to anxiety, depression and dis-ease. Through the practice of Yoga we learn to experience these feelings as passing states rather than permanent states of consciousness.
You will be guided through gentle flowing yoga sequences and breathing techniques to aid in the process of self-observation and grounding awareness in the body. Restorative postures will facilitate the relaxation response and the body/mind's natural ability to restore and re-pattern. We will close with a deeply calming guided relaxation. The entire practice has the effect of balancing our vital life force energy and toning the nervous system.
All levels welcome.
