Anatomy of Yoga: February 15 and 16, 2020
Saturday & Sunday February 15 & 16, 8:00 am to 12:30pm
Location: Green Mountain Rehab & Sports Medicine
90 Main Street Burlington, VT
Led by Beth Bowen (MS PT, RYT 200)
Learn the structure and function of the skeletal, muscular and the nervous systems as they relate to traditional yoga postures using a hands-on experiential approach. The understanding of anatomy is crucial to improve both your teaching and your own yoga practice, as well as to provide a deeper understanding of the how and why for alignment cues in our yoga practice.
Participants will learn tools to help correct and heal their own ailments, and improve knowledge in order to effectively deliver verbal cues, hands-on adjustments, and honor specific requests from their students. This course will cover the basics of bones, connective tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, cartilage, and fascia), organs, bodily systems, basic movements of the spine and extremities, and medical terminology.
Beth is known for her lighthearted and inspirational style of teaching, engaging with each student and answering questions along the way. She is a practicing Physical Therapist and Yoga Teacher. Please bring a notebook, pen or pencil, and a yoga mat. Metered parking at location.
