Burlington Yoga first opened on Saint Paul Street in November 2001.In 2001 there were two studios in the area offering yoga classes, Bikram and Ashtanga. These studios and styles certainly provided a wonderful practice for many. It was our intention to offer the traditional teachings of Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Flow styles and Restorative Yoga to serve the wider needs of the growing practitioners. We gathered and grew in this location for seven and a half years until March of 2008 when we moved to our current location at 215 College Street. With the most dedicated and devoted teachers, staff and students, we have been serving our community from this beautiful space ever since.
Each of the instructors at Burlington Yoga are Yoga Alliance certified and are committed to the authentic teachings and practice of traditional Hatha Yoga in its various forms. Gratitude, compassion, respect, and professionalism form the core of our teaching. We strive to empower each other and each student to find strength, balance, and peace. We believe in supporting each other in our personal growth, and know that when individuals make selfless efforts it has a powerful ripple effect. We believe that the art and science of yoga serves as a beautiful design for life, and our shared sentience with all of life. We believe in the traditional Tantric roots and the weave we can make together as a community. We believe that yoga is for everyone and that we are all instruments of expansion. We are a welcoming community of committed teachers, staff and students who understand, from deep personal experience, in the transformative power of Yoga. All classes are taught with safe, compassionate, non-judgmental and skillful teaching in a variety of styles and levels. We are here to serve you. Our very accessible Beginner Basics classes are a perfect entry point for anybody new to the practice of Yoga, or those who appreciate the ongoing study of alignment. Our Flow classes offer a progression of more physically challenging sequences that effectively develop strength, flexibility, coordination and balance. For those who wish to go deeper into the traditional practice, Hatha Yoga offers a space to explore the body as an energy system wherein the physical and mental intensity is dependent on the expanding capacity of the student. "Yoga was just another means of fitness before I started practicing at Burlington Yoga. Here I was able to deepen my focus, advance my practice, and begin to feel the benefits of yoga beyond fitness. The space is warm and welcoming, the instructors knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. I can’t imagine practicing anywhere else, thank you Piper and the rest of the Burlington Yoga instructors for continually providing a positive experience!" |
