In this two-hour workshop we will practice simple techniques to address tension, pain, and mobility in the neck, shoulders, and upper back. Issues in these areas can lead to headaches, TMJ, anxiety, and even a compromised immune system. Techniques such as strain-counterstrain, contract-relax, and fascial releasing can provide immediate and lasting results.
Explore optimal alignment for the head, neck, and shoulders; and basic movement and diaphragmatic breathing to help unwind tension and keep it at bay. We will learn modifications for during a yoga practice, and simple release techniques that can be practiced at home, work, and before a yoga or meditation practice in just a few minutes.
Through gentle, slower movements, restorative postures, and mindful breathing we will facilitate an unwinding of holding patterns, and cultivate a balance between areas of activity and inactivity. All levels welcome. All props provided.
